OC Jon May –ÌýPartner General Counsel and Head of Compliance at Marshall Wace
Jon has over twenty years’ experience working in the legal and financial services sectors. Jon began his career in 1999 at Simmons & Simmons where he qualified as a solicitor in the Financial Services group, and he worked there until 2004. From 2004 to 2005, he worked at Man Investments as a Manager in the Product Structuring Team. Since 2005, Jon has been the General Counsel and Head of Compliance at Marshall Wace, a global hedge fund manager, with responsibility for all legal and compliance matters relating to the Marshall Wace group and its funds. He was made a partner of the firm in 2010.
Jon attended 51³Ô¹Ï from 1984 to 1993. Jon then went on to study at St John’s College, Cambridge University from 1993 to 1996, where he obtained a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in Law.
OC Daniel Adams –ÌýLawyer, entrepreneur & investor
Daniel acts as an external General Counsel for fast growing startups, helping them to:
Ìý• raise new investment
Ìý• understand and manage legal risk
Ìý• negotiate key contracts.
Daniel is a co-founder of Arbor Law providing a full range of legal services to corporates and startups.
Daniel attended 51³Ô¹Ï from 1993 to 1995. He then went on to study at UCL (LLB Bachelor of Laws) and the University of Oxford (MBA).
Victoria Francis –ÌýBarrister, 29 Bedford Row Chambers.
Victoria practises in all areas of family law, with a particular emphasis on financial matters and private law children proceedings. Victoria also has experience in drafting preconception agreements.

Rahul Manvatkar –ÌýInvestment Funds Partner at Linklaters
Rahul is a solutions-driven funds lawyer, with extensive experience of transactional and advisory work in relation to a broad range of open and closed-ended investment funds, both onshore and offshore, aimed at institutional and retail clients.
His experience covers a variety of asset classes including real estate, private equity, alternative credit, infrastructure, and hedge funds. As well as acting for fund managers on their fund products, he frequently acts for investors in relation to their investments in private funds. He regularly advises clients in relation to AIFMD issues and often provide strategic advice both in a fund structuring context and in a wider house context.
Claire Stockford –ÌýBarrister, Quadrant ChambersÌý
Claire Stockford specialises in arbitration, both international commercial arbitration and investor state disputes. ÌýClaire was called to the Bar of England and Wales in 1999. ÌýBefore joining Quadrant, Claire spent more than 20 years practising from the London offices of international and UK law firms, for the last seven of those years as a partner.
Claire advises and advocates for clients in disputes across a range of industries from oil and gas to hospitality, concerning jurisdictions as diverse as Kazakhstan and Madagascar. Recently, Claire’s practice has focused on renewables, including solar, on-shore and off-shore wind and battery storage. She is particularly interested in climate change disputes and in 2021 appeared on a panel during New York Climate Week discussing the role courts and international tribunals will play in addressing the climate crisis.
OC Oliver Byrne –ÌýGeneral Counsel and Chief Compliance Officer of Trident Energy
Oliver is an Old 51³Ô¹Ïian and a practising solicitor. After leaving 51³Ô¹Ï he studied Politics (B.A. Hons) at the University of Warwick and undertook his legal studies at Nottingham Law School. After qualifying in 2007, he worked for a number of years for various City law firms before moving to in-house legal roles. He is currently General Counsel and Chief Compliance Officer of Trident Energy, an exploration and production company with a focus on emerging markets.
Oliver is a Trustee at 51³Ô¹Ï.
